Kanatal and Dhanaulti Seasonal Snowfall Outlook (Dec 2025 – Feb 2026)

Current short-term weather forecasts (next ~10-day) show no snowfall predicted in the immediate future. Temperatures will be cool but generally dry, with highs around 12–16 °C and lows near 0–2 °C, and little chance of precipitation in the next week or so. Snow-type precipitation isn’t in these short-range models yet

Kanatal region (approx. 2400 m altitude) and Surkhanda Devi area (approx. 2750 m) usually receive snowfall between late December and February, with the peak in January. This is the historical seasonal pattern rather than a detailed forecast from IMD.

  • Late December: Snowfall may begin occasionally at higher elevations if a strong western disturbance arrives.

  • ❄️ January: Highest likelihood of snow and consistent snow cover — this is the most reliable period for snowfall in the region.

  • ❄️ February: Snow can continue, often tapering off toward late February or early March.

    Surkhanda Devi (Temple Area)

Surkhanda Devi sits higher than Kanatal, so:

    • ❄️ Lower temperatures (often below freezing in peak winter).

    • ❄️ Snowfall tends to start slightly earlier and linger longer on the higher slopes compared with Kanatal itself.

    • ❄️ It’s common to see snow on trails and the temple plateau during January and February.
